Walking out of the house this morning, I was hoping for a break in the heat, unfortunately, the heat is here to stay… by the time this article publishes, hopefully it cool down enough for me to be able to fall asleep without having five ice packs in bed with me… Yeah, Marie didn’t appreciate my nightly cooling down routine.
UPDATE: although there’s a storm rolling in, the heat is still here, and my ice pack game still strong, much to Marie’s disappointment!
On a positive note, I decided to try out a new coffee shop in an area that I don’t usually visit. It had been suggested to me that I should try out Espresso Bison, a little espresso and coffee bar on Ontario St., and since I never take the time to visit my own city, I decided I would do so this morning before work.
If you get off at the Frontenac metro station, you’ll need to backtrack down Ontario (towards the west) a couple of blocks before finding the spot .It has a beautiful window bar, which is where I’m sitting, foolishly since it’s super sunny and I’m still sweaty from the two minute walk outside.
The rest of the place gives off a polished industrial vibe: brick walls, wooden accents, steel stools, and a beautiful countertop bar with an integrate espresso pump and patisserie counter. On the walls, you’ll find some beautiful, abstract paintings of Bisons, as well as other wildlife; furthermore, you can purchase some local artwork, pottery and coffee accessories while you’re here.
In terms of coffee, they are one of the few places in Montreal that seem to have a steady offer of Kaito Coffee (we ❤ you Kaito Coffee), as well as some Dispatch coffee blends. Their chocolatines and croissants look amazing, too! If you come here a little later in the day, you can grab a bite to eat, they have some vegetarian and vegan options as well.
Overall, I’m quite happy that I made the trek over, I will definitely be back!
